The Tyrolean State Museum Ferdinandeum shows an artistic journey through the Tyrolean history. From prehistoric times and the Roman era through to the Early Middle Ages and the modern era. The art-historical and historical tour takes you from the Stone Age to the present day – a journey through 30,000 years. Among the exhibits are Romanesque and Gothic masterpieces, a major Dutch collection including works by Brueghel and Rembrandt, pieces from the Baroque and the 19th century, a collection of precious musical instruments, the Biedermeier collection and the Modern Gallery with paintings by Egger-Lienz, Klimt and Kokoschka.
