This painting is a homage to Paris produced in the aftermath of terrorist attacks in the city. It is also a homage to previous painters of Paris street scenes in the rain featuring umbrellas (Renoir and Caillebotte). The young woman who is exchanging a seductive look with the viewer is a fictional being who may be interpreted as a personification of Paris. Period is the 1960s.
