Young Saint John the Baptist with ram  1602

by Caravaggio

A depiction of John the Baptist, the cousin of Jesus whose calling was to prepare the way for the coming of the Messiah. The painting is also known as Youth with a Ram, and there is another version in the Capitoline Museums in Rome.
