Vale near Castell-y-Bere
One time Mari and I were wandering over towards Castell-y-Bere, south west of Snowdonia. There's a narrow meandering road which leaves Abergynolwyn (on the B4405) and climbs North Westerly across some stunning landscape towards the Castle. The castle itself is situated on a raised rocky hillock, which sprouts from the floor of a valley, and the valley itself is hidden by the surrounding mountains. As we approached the castle, we spotted this little mini-vale going off to the right. The land was very irregular, and given the low cross-light, with all the resultant shadows, the overall image was complex and decorative. Just the thing for a painting.
