   Interesting piece! Vilhelm Hammershøi's "The Student" evokes such a quiet, contemplative mood. The focus on light and shadow is masterful. It almost makes me think of the serene settings one might find exploring the islands in poptropica, just without the puzzles! I wonder if Hammershøi intended to suggest a connection between knowledge and introspection through this solitary figure.

   I have had this picture that I inherited years ago. It is framed with wood and a glass cover. Some micro cracks in paint surface. Just interested where it came from?
