Like Flowers for Tea
Medium: The medium used is oils.
Material: This artwork has been created on Linen mounted on Wood.
Size in Centimeters: 60.96 x 76.2 centimeters
Price: $30000
Description:
The teacups, sugar bowl and little cream jug were brought over from England by my father-in-law clarinetist Elvin Clearfield. He was in the President's band and played for Kennedy's inauguration and also sadly, for his funeral. During the second world war the band would play in some of the most devastated areas in Europe to give some relief from the horrors and sadness of war. Every time he flew home to America and his family he would bring wonderful little gifts for them, like these teacups.
The flowers of course are from our garden. The view is of the Smokey Mountains where we live. The still life set up is on a big up-cycled marble slab that is my studio table.
I hope you can read the poem, painted onto the raggedy paper in the painting. It is more flowing to read it in the calligraphy.
Feeling the Heart
Gathering Beauty
Drinking Peace
Like Flowers
for Tea
in April
After the storm.
This painting is my tea party of joy and peace :)
