Elkin Canas

Drawing was always part of my life, and discovered my passion for painting at a very young age. I studied graphic design at The Caracas Institute of Design, followed by the art school of my home city, where I attended for 2 years. Disappointed by the school’s extremely emphasis in modern art, and lack of traditional training and realist approach to painting, I left to study and work with the Italian painter and sculptor “Francesco Santoro” traveling with him between his studios in Milan-Italy and Valencia-Venezuela. I have participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions in my country, Colombia Italy, USA and Spain. My paintings have won awards in various salons and competitions. I truly believe in the intense and honest observation of nature and study of the Old Masters and their methods, to create a strong basis on which an artist can build a solid work and career, contemporary, with the highest quality, timeless beauty and permanence for centuries.
