Turner
1985
The title "Turner" is in reference to a Masterful British painter of the early 1800's, as well as the wind turned motions of the windmill. The source image was taken by the Artist at sun up in Holland, on route to Amsterdam. The image dissolves into a view of the entry way doors to the Turner Galleries at the Tate Museum of London. This is one example of hand painted "Photoshop" type image, which was painstakingly painted by the Artists hand some ten years before Photoshop was invented. The original painting is done in Acrylic on Museum board and measures 6' 7" in length.
The French don't care to admit it, but it was actually Turner who invented "Impressionism" . All of the famous, important French Impressionists journeyed to view Turner's work preceding the French Impressionist Movement. Turner, one the most important painters in Art History.
