This Painting has nothing to do with the Pilgrim Fathers. It is a capriccio by Adam Willaerts as he made so many. In a newly creating surrounding Willaerts shows Dutch Troops shipping for military exercises during the Twelve Year File during the war with the Spanish King. See my pamflet Lost in Interpretation.
