Father and daughter2011
This painting is based on a family album photo and personal memories of 1966. It shows myself in profile with my baby daughter Sophie, who was born in 1965, reposing in a large armchair inside a Hampstead, London, flat that belonged to our friends Christopher and Sally Langley. Given the millions of images of mothers with infants that exist - especially the Madonna and child type, this painting reminds viewers that fathers too can care for babies.
