In this engraved scene we see Christ, on the right, administering a blessing to the Virgin Mary, on the left. Three cherubim observe from behind. Schongauer's skills are particularly evident in the details; he manages to portray faithfully the folds in Mary's and Christ's clothes and the curls in their hair: no easy task when engraving on metal!
