I have exhibited my Seascapes throughout the UK for over 25 years, including shows in Th Mall Gallery, London, The Leith Gallery, Edinburgh, Red Rag Gallery, Worcestershire and The Biscuit Factory, Newcastle. My work is collected both nationally and internationally. My work is created in series but always progressing, seeking new ways to capture the elusive nature of the sea and to create a forum for exposing our own psyche. Each series informs the next, creating planned and unplanned diversions. My painterly technique is bold, colourful and dynamic and aims to express a subtle emotional agenda. I try to create a luminous and ethereal use of light to capture my own and our collective need for beauty. I manily use the Northern coastline for inspiration but lately have found myself reaching out to poetry, dramatic events and ancient history for an added dimension, leading to my use of figures in the scenes for the first time. The sea is a wonderful catalyst for every emotion experienced and stores a wealth of history, whimsy and drama in its folds, we cannot help but love and fear it in equal measure.
