[i]As my childhood unfolded in a village in this area, I began sketching on the mud walls of the hutments. Armed with vegetable colours and innocence, devoid of grammar, I kept drawing the loveliness I saw around. My sketches portrayed naive women and unblemished rural environment. There was abundance of folk and spontaneity, but privation of classic and the studied.
