At the top of the painting there is a Latin inscription saying:
"For they are a nation void of counsel, neither is there any understanding in them," and at the bottom it continues "O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end!"
In the centre of the painting below the circle that depicts Jesus there is the inscription: "Cave Cave Deus Videt" that is translated as "Beware, Beware, God Sees".
