The spotlight effect has been defined as a belief linked to overestimating the amount of attention received by third parties with respect to their physical appearance or behavior. (Myers and Twenge, 2017).
Many studies suggest that the spotlight effect is often linked with anxiety in general, but also, particularly with SOCIAL ANXIETY DISORDER.
