Dr Maria Dimaki (artistic name Maria-Theodora Dimaki), a Forensic Psychiatrist & Academic is a self taught painter and poet- author. Always looking for experimentation and new techniques , she regularly participates in exhibitions and has won many awards both in Art and Literature. She is mostly known for her personal technique, etching/cutting on x-rays, which was inspired by science' s realism and the agony of mortality. For her work she was awarded a Prize and Medal by Atelier of Alexandria, Assembly of Artists and Writers at the 2nd AAW International Youth Salon in Alexandria (Egypt, 4l2007).
Human anatomy is a favorite theme in her works. Her series “anARTomy” (a play on words with “anatomy” and “art”), are sketches on paper using graphite and ink, designing humorous, monstrous, imaginary sides of the human physiology.
Samples of her work can be found in private collections and in the Offices of LUMC (Local Union of Municipalities & Communities) prefecture of Larissa (Greece), as well in museums, MUMEDI (Mexico) ,Yoshkar-Ola National Museum of Fine Arts (Russia), Atelier d' Alexandrie (Egypt), CAM -Contemporary Art Museum (Italy).
