About

The painter Emmanuel Tzanes Bounialis (c. 1610-1690), a priest and an intellectual, was the descendant of a noble family from Rethymnon who moved to Corfu after the Turkish conquest of Crete. He spent his life between Corfu and Venice, and painted a large number of icons which decisively marked the religious art of the Ionian Islands. 0.66x0.54 m. Gift of Damianos Kyriazis. (ΓΕ 11198)
