Βringing Technological Innovation to the Museum Experience

Research has always been a central part of USEUM and the last few months we have been working intensively on the development of an innovative application that has the potential to help museums and galleries address the ever-increasing financial challenges they are facing, whilst enabling the dissemination of art beyond the walls of the museum.

In collaboration with the State Museum of Contemporary Art, we recently launched a pilot of the "Infinite Museum Store", which is an Augmented Reality application that enables museums visitors to design prints and gifts such as t-shirts, tote bags and smartphone cases featuring their favourite works from the Costakis Collection exhibited at the museum.

The innovative nature of the "Infinite Museum Store" and its significant potential to make an impact on the cultural heritage sector attracted the attention of national press and media. National newspaper "Kathimerini" featured an article about the project in the "Arts" section titled A Malevich on your doorstep, whilst the Hellenic News Agency took a radio interview from USEUM's Founder Foteini Valeonti. Excerpts of the interview where published by the Agency in the article: Works of the Costakis Collection leave the walls of the State Museum of Contemporary Art.
The current exhibition of the State Museum of Contemporary Art, where you can try USEUM's "Infinite Museum Store", is part of the 6th Thessaloniki Biennalle of Contemporary Art closing on Sunday! So if you are in Thessaloniki, don't miss it! For more details, please check the museum's press release: 6th THESSALONIKI BIENNALE OF CONTEMPORARY ART
