You know what life in startups is like… “All work and no play”. Luckily in our case it’s “all art and no play”. But there are some times that we really need to just take a break and share what we do, how we do it and, most of all, why we do it. In an interview with The Times, our CEO and founder, Foteini Valeonti, talked about what it is we aspire to do here at USEUM: when we look for [films], we go to IMDB. When we look for video, we go to YouTube. When we need an encyclopedia, we go to Wikipedia. But we don’t have a social network for art — and we need one. But when something doesn’t exist, either it doesn’t need to or it is super-hard to do. "Super Art" to do, we would rephrase it!
The interview also gave Times readers the chance to meet Fran Recacha, one of our selected artists. Fran was one of the first ever artists to join USEUM and clearly values the art of crowdsourcing, as well as the features that the platform offers to artists. Ηe points out how it provides artists with the opportunity to create, ‘merchandising and art prints using images of our artworks, so this is a chance to get a personal online shop and try to earn some money. This kind of platform will [become] important in the art market. Art buyers in future will use it’.
It’s a very interesting read, mostly because you will understand better what we are trying to do here at USEUM. You can read the whole article here.
Last but not least, to all of you contributors, art lovers, artists and galleries: Thank you for being part of our heART...
