The Ropewalk in Edam  1904

Liebermann painted The Ropewalk in Edam during a visit to the small Dutch town, situated near the Zuider Zee about thirteen miles northeast of Amsterdam . The painting illustrates laborers manufacturing rope by twisting together strands of fiber. The work was done along a path known as a ropewalk.
