Joy

by Lauri Blank

I painted "Joy" for this 1900 century Romanian "Mourning Box". Which was used when loved ones passed away, it usually housed a picture of their beloved and the box would then be closed. In some instances a veil may also be draped over the box in a gesture of mourning. The box since it's existance has only represented sorrow and loss. But now the mourning box houses "Joy".
