Green Apples with Gray Curtain  1943

by Walt Kuhn

The artist has transformed a haphazard arrangement of apples into a stable, pyramidal design, reflective of Paul Cézanne's use of solid, geometric forms. Kuhn helped organize the New York Armory Show in 1913, the famous exhibition that introduced modern art to the American public.
