Drapery on a Table 1648
by Jan de Bisschop
The artist’s sole aim here was to depict a length of wrinkled cloth as faithfully as possible. The result is a virtuoso display of the handling of the brush. The drawing is dated 12 March 1665 on the back in Constantijn Huygens II’s handwriting. This was probably the day that Huygens was presented with this drawing by his friend.
