my version of Guernica...shadow art
2013
In 1937, Pablo Picasso creates one of his most famous paintings, and one of the most important in the universal history of art, Guernica. The painting itself constitutes a cry of despair against the monstrosity of war and denounces the fatal consequences on the ordinary people...
77 years later, Teodosio Sectio Aurea creates the exact same cry of despair, an enigmatic composition made by light and shadows, and uses as "paint", the shadows casted by abstract pieces of iron...
And it seems as though noone will ever hear or even comprehend the essence of this cry, because even today, after 76 years, the same images of horror are repeated thoughout the planet....
(size of metal framework: 80 x 40, size of shadow: 2.10 x 1.30)
