The Nave and Choir of the Mariakerk in Utrecht  1641

Saenredam recorded all of the architectural elements in this church, which dates from the 11th century. He [br]even used gold leaf to render the painted imitation tapestries on the pillars. At the left, visitors study the image of a bull on a pillar: according to legend, while the church was being built this pillar continued to sink until it was grounded on a bull’s hide. ...
