Roman Girl at a Fountain  1875

This picture is one of the last genre scenes that Bonnat produced before he turned exclusively to portraiture. He probably agreed to paint the work for Catharine Lorillard Wolfe about 1873.   1. A beautiful version of this painting was given to us for a wedding present in 1964. It was created at the museum by an art student named Fern Vinnal. We have displayed it lovingly for over 55 years!
