This painting was created by Eugene Delacroix and his deep interest in animals, especially wild cats such as tigers. He learned the form of art from works of painters in Louvre. It is thought that his painting of tigers were formed from his own pet cats, needing to show ferocity of the animal as well as its tenderness.
