The initial period
Greek painter, born in 1958 in Patras. He dealt professionally with various activities such as fashion and gastronomy sales. From a very early age, he dealt with great interest and moved to the field of painting, developing great activity from 1983 to 1988. He began painting from his childhood and did free studies beside well-known painters. In 1985 Dimitris Mytaras, Rector of Athens School of Fine Arts, was impressed by his talent and invited him to attend the School as a talent. At that time, however, he had developed other activities and that was not possible, but Dimitris Mytaras, with the understanding of his obligations, gave him the unique privilege and for three years from 1985 to 1987 he did free and special studies next to him, whenever he had free time.
The middle period
From 1988 to 2017, he abstained from intense activity. His passion with painting became his hobby and virtually covered his free hours. This long time, missing from painting, perhaps, did not allow him the recognition he really deserved. In 2017 he returns intensely and passionately for his great love, the Painting.
His return in 2017 was unexpectedly positive. In a very short time, it was accompanied by a variety of proposals from artistic sites, galleries, museums, municipalities to present his works, with the magic of his paintings and technique, inspired by the Greek Seascape and the landscape. In 2018, he participated, with great success, in four group exhibitions, in the series, Patras, Thessaloniki, Athens, and Patras.
In the summer of 2018, he participated in a solo exhibition on the island of Spetses, where his works were sold to collectors and friends of art. For 2019 he has planned four individual exhibitions, as well as four group exhibitions.
It uses both oil and mixed colors. His unlimited subject stimulates the feelings of the viewer, referring mainly to nature, the Greek landscape and the sea. His paintings, with the brush and the pallet knife, look for elements through modern, free and decisive movements influenced by Impressionism with an expressionist mood. Without ever avoiding the outline, often with abstract predisposition, it prefers to lead the viewer's view and perception, through intense color correlations, in a completely personal style. The unique relationship that develops on the canvas, with colors, techniques and materials, is shaped by a lyricism resulting from a religious attachment that Sokratis Evgenidis, has to the unwritten rules of this unique art. From 1983 to 1988, he has been awarded a prize in solo and group exhibitions presenting his was works in Greece and out of Greece. In 1985 he was awarded in a painting exhibition in Piraeus, as a younger artist from all over Greece. His works decorate public places, hotels and private collections.
