USEUM Presentation at Anatolia School of Business

Last week USEUM had the pleasure to be invited at the Anatolia Business School of the American College of Thessaloniki. USEUM’s Founder and Managing Director Foteini Valeonti gave a presentation on how USEUM has evolved from a PhD project at the UCL, to the winner of Athens Startup Weekend 2012 and then how it went into its seed-funding round last year concluding with the stage USEUM is at today. The purpose of the presentation was to share the key lessons we have learned along the way as we try to establish our startup.

A Q&A session followed the presentation with the students of the Anatolia School of Business making numerous spot-on questions, varying from how USEUM is dealing with several legal & business matters to why USEUM tops competitive platforms. Two co-founders of USEUM were also present answering questions alongside Foteini. Given the students’ awareness of USEUM’s industry i.e. art-related social networks and also their familiarity with start-up companies, the discussion was particularly fruitful for both ends.

Picking one thing worth sharing from the presentation, this would be the quotation below. It is almost a cliché however it is worth repeating.

"A Teammate is a Multiplier; Either Pushes everybody Forward, or Holds everybody Back"

Despite the wide perception that the lack of funding is the main reason a start-up fails, the truth lies closer to the fact, that the first and foremost reason is that the creators’ team broke.

We would like to thank the Anatolia School of Business for their warm welcoming of USEUM! It made us very happy when we received some of the students feedback a few days later saying they found the event “Truly inspiring”. Thanks!!!
